Photo Assignment Still Life

Image
The first picture in this series was taken at 4:45AM, in one of a number of similar rooms in my home, before the natural light of the sun illuminates this room. No camera flash was necessary. Establishing the composition and environment was essential to capturing the intended essence of this photograph. This is to say, the backdrop, setting, and visual sets the thematic impact. Note that the depth of field aperture is distinctively clear despite being wide, capturing the relative size of the room with the central subject-matter of the photograph. The photographer’s framing draws the viewers’ eyes to the Chinese floor cabinet, specifically the oriental clock, and Ritual Candle regardless of the coffee table and other objects in and beyond the room. This is done with manipulating slow ISO and a soft light impact in the primary room. Amazingly, this is all accomplished with a soft light backdrop. The second picture introduces the subtle presence of morning sunlight as the camera’s f...

Landscape Assignment

Image
I paraphrase when I say, “I suspect this course is teaching us that every good photo requires good use of light, color, a captivating moment, correct composition for the given situation, and the photographer's choice of distance to their subject.” (Krause’s Photo Idea Index, 2023) Although the loading into the Blogger software didn’t do the photo justice, I believe the following pic captures these necessary requirements in a keenly satisfying way. See the photo in the Flickr Software Site. In addition to the prementioned requirements, this photograph offers an excellent exempt of (A) Establishing Environment, (B) Capturing/Picturing People, and (C) Thinking Creatively. Establishing environment while the exterior of the sanctuary and church offered many possibilities, particularly in the midday sun; the interior of the structure with this nun is overwhelmingly captivating. The backdrop and its value contrast make the humans subject matter and her act of prayer all the more tra...

Experience Using Lightroom Assignment

Image
Using Lightroom was highly satisfactory and easy to function/navigational. The experience was fairly basic with settings for brightness, color, clarity, cropping, and spot-blemish removal. To add depth to the photo, I selected resize. I removed color altogether and cropped the photo in closer on the subject matter. Through the process-editing, my father and the solar panel takes on a deeper expression of illustration.

Photo Assignment Portraits

Image
I randomly selected the human subject matters, first asking their permission to secure greater measures of posing participation. The way I posed, arranged, and composed my human subject matters was to capture them in their natural activities. Some of the camera settings was full lens shots to catch a full environment setting while other camera settings were zoom-ins with crops. The camera settings were selected according to what the human subject matter was actually doing and the sense of emotional vibe potential relayed in the activity being photographed. Three things I did well was putting the subject matters at ease asking their permission beforehand, photographing them in a timely manner, and connecting the human subject matters with the immediate environments. Three things I didn’t do as well and need to work further on as a beginning photographer are improving my technique at camera angles and lighting selections, style, and conceptual results, as well as allowing for more time t...

Object Assignment

Image
This exercise or assignment taught me mastering natural light is probably a key component or fundamental of good photography. As difficult as it is to imagine, anyone can take good photographs even when it’s not the “golden hour” or when there’s no available natural light. Even as a beginner or aspiring photographer, any of us can certainly take good photos at any time of the day and still achieve highly positive quality output. It appears each one of us who has a basic interest in photography simply has to learn how to distinguish the characteristics of the lighting that can be captured during different times of the 24-hour period day. In this way, we can optimize specific conditions and use the right camera settings or photography tools to help us achieve the best photographs possible. Even of the simplest subject matters.

Point of View: 16-37:     A point of view is t he position the camera is in when you’re viewing a scene and taking a photo. This is how you capture the angle. This captures a photo of Christmas decorations at my house on the railings above the stairs. This photo was caught on a great angle. It emphasizes the lights on the decorations and the dimness.     Establishing Environment 38-73:   Establishing environment  is, more or less, framing the subject matter where the subject is photographed in their natural environment.  This photo captures my cat, Brandy doing what she typically does during Christmas seasons. Flocking under the tree. This is a picture of her and the background with the ornament beside her.  Capturing Composition 74-103:   Capturing composition is how photographers go about arranging visual elements within their frame. This is a photo of decorations in front of my fireplace. The...
