Landscape Assignment

I paraphrase when I say, “I suspect this course is teaching us that every good photo requires good use of light, color, a captivating moment, correct composition for the given situation, and the photographer's choice of distance to their subject.” (Krause’s Photo Idea Index, 2023) Although the loading into the Blogger software didn’t do the photo justice, I believe the following pic captures these necessary requirements in a keenly satisfying way. See the photo in the Flickr Software Site. In addition to the prementioned requirements, this photograph offers an excellent exempt of (A) Establishing Environment, (B) Capturing/Picturing People, and (C) Thinking Creatively.

Establishing environment while the exterior of the sanctuary and church offered many possibilities, particularly in the midday sun; the interior of the structure with this nun is overwhelmingly captivating. The backdrop and its value contrast make the humans subject matter and her act of prayer all the more transparent.

Capturing or picturing the person is essential to attracting attention to the photo. The two principles work hand-in-hand with this specific pic. The colors of the nun’s attire are vividly captured which lends exceptional depth-perception and visual texture along with a good distance-setting that reaffirms the photographer point of view.

Thinking creatively, I was able to capture this nun’s conveying action, in this example of kneeling contrition, stunningly so. The cross with thorns and the Statue of Mary holding the Crucified Christ re-introduces the Statuary stand-ins simultaneously with a living human figure, all enveloping the unified sensation of religious relevance.

I paraphrase when I say, “like all art, photography is subjective, which means a good photo to one person may not look so good to another. But, there a few concepts that help guide photographers through every decision that goes into a single photograph.” (Krause’s Photo Idea Index, 2023). So, it is fair to conclude those same basics of photography help give us an idea of what makes a photo, a good one.
